Next Steps
I have been an educator in a classroom for a long time, but this is my first Master's degree. I chose to put off this coursework for several reasons, but one of the biggest ones is that I never do something for the sake of doing it. I am motivated by meaning. Everything I do, from what I teach, to my personal growth and learning, needs to mean something. One of the things I have come to enjoy about teaching is using technology in my classroom. It's one more thing I get to share with students. Not only do I get to enjoy teaching art, but I have found a way to incorporate teaching some technical skills along the way as well. Finding the Instructional Technology program at Kutztown has been a wonderful learning experience. I am walking away from this with many new ideas and skills I hope to put into practice. After so many years of teaching in the classroom, making a change would be difficult, but I would consider it if the right opportunity came along. One of the things I enjoy is taking large ideas and breaking them down, and creating from start to finish. I would love a job as a content or course designer to use my skill as an art teacher to build virtual classroom spaces and design dynamic and interactive lessons for other educators. For now, I plan to put my new skills to practice in my course work and continue developing professional development opportunities in my school district. |
